I am a recovering political science faculty member turned sci-fi/fantasy author. This blog is my political ramblings and rantings. Because once a poli sci nerd, always a poli sci nerd. During my academic career I taught American and comparative politics, including politics of the EU and Latin America. My research focused on Balkan politics and student learning (e.g. high impact practices). My fiction writing can be found over at my substack (professorornery.substack.com). I have three novels out in my Academic Magic series (Academic Magic, Night Mage, and Magic Abroad) and several short stories in various anthologies, in addition to academic articles. I have been an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy since I learned to read.
