I Agree

This is a repost of Larry Correia‘s FB post earlier today (Monday). I completely agree with this take. I’ve been asked, with that “sincere” head tilt thing going on… you know, the “I have a sincere, and honest question. Do you really believe blahblahblah?” Or “Do you support/endorse blahblah?”

If you lost your job in this cleaning out, I’m sorry. I’ve been laid off before. It totally sucks. But, you are not, never have been, and never will be the only one that’s happened to, not counting your friends in the bureaucracy. And it’s not the end of the world, trust me. You are stronger than a simple layoff. If you have friends who are in dire straits due to layoffs, give them a hand. But as much as they suck, layoffs are a part of life. At least for those of us not working for the feds.

Read Larry’s post and then ask yourself the “honest question.”

On the government employees getting fired, some of you are saying I’m heartless because I don’t understand that you’ve got your personal story about how you personally are an awesome employee who works super hard and your job is super important and great.

Yes. I’m sure that’s true. I’m sure you are amazing. But the problem is you’ve got several million coworkers spread across a few thousand departments, all with various levels of issues, and it sounds like on the bell curve of usefulness/productivity you are over on the right side of the curve.

Now be perfectly honest with us, because the rest of us who’ve worked with/for the US government has run into plenty of the dregs from the left side of that curve. Like the dude I knew who they tried to fire because his daily 2-4 hour nap beneath his desk finally got too disruptive due to the snoring, but when they tried to fire him he claimed he was being persecuted for medical reasons (undiagnosed narcolepsy) so instead they transferred him to a private office.

So when I’ve got some dude who spent 20 years fighting sicarios on the border getting offended by my belief that the government needs an enema, it ain’t about you. You and Nappy Time aren’t the same.

I had one government employee get super butt hurt at me this weekend telling me he’d never read my books again, because how dare I think government employees should get fired.

So I told him about the GS I knew who tried to put 250 people out of work and bankrupt a good company because she refused to admit she’d done some paperwork wrong, and after spending a fortune and half a year fighting her, it was only due to her incompetently CCing me on an email to her boss admitting that I was right and she was wrong (which I promptly forwarded to a senator’s chief of staff) to get the problem fixed. Afterwards she got PROMOTED.

Or the federal agent I personally dealt with who knowingly perjured himself to a judge to get an illegal search warrant, even though there were a bunch of witnesses to confirm he’d already found the items he was claiming to be looking for. The judge was furious. But the agent didn’t get fired or prosecuted. They just transferred him to a different office where he hadn’t offended the local judges.

So then the butt hurt GS told me to commit su1c1d3 and blocked me. Oh well. I’m all broken up.

Are there lots of awesome government employees who do good work. Yes. Are lots of good folks going to get caught up in these mass cutting of the necrotic flesh? Yep. Does that suck? Yep. Same as all the mass lay offs the rest of us have gone through during our lives out in the regular world, that sure does hurt. But sadly our time for gentle careful cuts is past, the scalpel will no longer do, and it is axe and TQ time before the patient dies.

I don’t think many of you realize just what kind of strict timeline Trump is on right now. He is trying to gut the entrenched power structures of the unelected “expert” bureaucrat class. These are the world’s greatest masters of the slow roll. If he doesn’t overwhelm them, they’ll stall the process into oblivion and this will all be for nothing. Fast sucks, fast has collateral damage, but it is be fast or fail.

So yeah, I’ve got pity for the individuals. I worked with I don’t know how many GS employees. Some were awesome. Some were some of the best and bravest humans I’ve ever known. Some were utter trash. Some were lazy, some were dumb, some were corrupt, and some were downright malicious bullies. That’s the same story for everybody who has worked with them, and everybody who works for the government who is honest will admit the same damned thing.

However I’ve got more pity for all the regular people who’ve been fucked over by unaccountable meddlesome government for generations. And I understand that the great federal leviathan must be curtailed or else we’re basically doomed.

Think about all the panic attacks America experiences every four years because of how much the executive branch is capable of fucking over literally every aspect of your existence with total impunity. We’ve got to cut that back. We just went through several years with NO ACTUAL PRESIDENT. There was no elected person in charge. Just the faceless political animals of the Harvard prom committee.

Do you want the executive branch to remain an all powerful, all controlling super entity for the next time that happens?

So your government department might be a unicorn, filled with hard working smart people who care about spending our tax dollars wisely, who only do good. Again, bell curve. If that’s true then you ain’t normal, so don’t get all pissed off and offended at the tax payers grousing about the ones who do obviously suck, because clearly you aren’t them.

And don’t fucking lie to us that they’re all good, because none of us who’ve ever dealt with the government are going to get gas lit about that. We’ve been there. Many of us have worked for them or alongside them. We’ve watched them do dumb crap. We’ve watched them make idiotic hurtful decisions. We’ve watched them bully people and throw their weight around and ruin businesses and destroy lives.

No matter how great you personally are, the rest of us have gotten fucked over by them somehow, and we voted to clean house.

For those of you saying that making government employees afraid of losing their jobs is going to cost Trump the midterms, I think you are severely overestimating how much the regular American voter likes our government. After four years of being beaten over the head by how awesome big government is, we’ve hit a backlash, and it looks like there’s a preference cascade where people who were sick of this shit are finally no longer afraid to come out and admit it.

a new Harvard poll just came out, and its something like 70% of Americans are in favor of how Trump is trying to gut the government.

I’m not some heartless goon rooting for your suffering. I’m just an American who doesn’t want my country to run off a cliff into a black hole of miserable poverty beneath the tyrannical rule of an all powerful super government.
