2025 has started out with a bang, literally. A car bomb in Las Vegas, a truck ramming through crowds on Bourbon Street in NOLA, protests in NYC, another almost subway killing in NYC (victim survived being shoved in front of a train), and other random acts of terror and horror.
Fair warning: This is a bit of a long rant. To quote Frank Costanza: “I’ve got a lot of problems with you people, and now you’re gonna hear about it!”
In one truly horrific case, authorities in the UK finally fucking admitted that for DECADES gangs of Pakistani men, in Rotherham and elsewhere, have been routinely kidnapping, raping, and torturing young girls (as young as eleven years old) and police looked the other way. Why did they look the other way you ask? Well, the wusses in charge were afraid of insulting the men in question. The men in question are raping young girls and the police didn’t do anything because they were afraid of insulting rapists. You can’t make this shit up. In one case the police ARRESTED THE FATHER WHEN HE TRIED TO RESCUE HIS DAUGHTER. The charge? Racism.
In addition, UK authorities arrested anyone who dared to speak up about these horrors.
To UK police and authorities, I have a question. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??? You are worried about insulting Pakistani men so you turn a blind eye, or in some cases actively cooperate with gangs who are kidnapping and raping eleven-year-old girls???
What the ever-loving FUCK is wrong with the UK? And, yes, I include the entire country in this, with the small exception of those who have spoken out publicly, only to be arrested for speaking out. You, the citizens of the UK have allowed your government to infringe your free speech in order to avoid insulting criminals who are raping your young daughters.
That’s just so totalitarian, dystopian and sick. Hey, UK, y’all need to wake the fuck UP!
In other news, we have had two high profile terrorist attacks in the U.S. Yes, terrorist attacks. And our authorities are busily trying to cover things up there as well. The truck that plowed into the crowd on Bourbon Street on New Year’s Eve, killing at least eleven people, was flying the ISIS flag. Which was quickly covered up by police and/or federal authorities. Again, I ask, what the fuck are you thinking? You know if it had been a MAGA flag, the feds and the media would be shouting that from the rooftops in an effort to convince everyone that Trump was responsible for the driver’s decision. (BTW, the driver was killed by NOPD as soon as he stepped out of his vehicle to try to shoot more bystanders).
In Las Vegas a man drove a Cybertruck to the Trump Hotel and then detonated a bomb he created with fireworks and other materials in the bed of the truck. Fortunately, due to Elon Musk’s love of the idea of a bullet proof truck, the truck bed contained most of the force of the blast and the hotel doors, just a few feet away, were left intact. Also fortunately only one person, and that was the driver of the truck, was killed in that explosion.
There are several coincidences between the two attacks, and you can read about them elsewhere on line. But I will point out that these attacks, and others, have all happened in the weeks between the election and Trump’s inauguration. And the perpetrators aren’t MAGA supporters or the so-called “far-right.” They are, in fact, the very people the left claims as “peaceful supporters” of radical Islam and Islamic terror groups. If I had to guess, I’d say they’re have a couple of goals in mind.
First, they, and the media, will try to convince people that if we’d just elected Harris, then these people wouldn’t be blowing things up and killing people. If you buy into that reverse argument, you are employing victim-blaming as a strategy. So, tell me… do you blame those girls in Rotherham for getting raped? Did they deserve it? Do you really think a candidate, and politician, as weak as Harris would have prevented such acts? Do you seriously believe that? Why? How do weak leaders prevent terror attacks by enemies?
My second guess as to goals, is to inflict as much damage as possible to both infrastructure, feelings of safety and security, and society in general, such that Trump and the incoming administration will be distracted from the bigger picture issues they also need to tackle, thus weakening Trump’s presidency, and trying to insure an even weaker lefty president in the future. If you’re cheering because you’ll cheer anything that makes Trump look bad, I suggest you take a good hard look at yourself and the consequences of your ideas and those you cheer for.
Yes, the US has enemies, yes they are trying their damnedest to weaken this country, yes, that’s a huge problem even if you don’t want to admit it. A strong U.S. is actually good for us and the world. I don’t care if that offends you. If you’re so offended to live in and be a citizen of a strong country, there are plenty of weaker ones you can find to live in. Perhaps you can move to the UK. I hear they are arresting everyone who disagrees with the government. Is that weak enough for you? Would that work?
A government that arrests critics is a weak and frightened government. It’s also a tyrannical government. You want a dictatorship? Restricting speech, even speech that offends you, is how you get a dictatorship.
I’m still very hopeful for this new year. We need to get to January 20 so that the cabal running this country in the name of the completely gone Joe Biden leaves the White House and the levers of power. They all truly need to be prosecuted for the blatant Constitutional violations they’ve engaged in since late 2020. Let’s start with Jill “Edith Wilson” Biden. If you don’t know Edith Wilson, go do your research.
We can and we will recover from the horrific mess left to us by Biden and Obama (yes, I included Obama and yes, I realize that many of my friends and family voted for him, most of you solely because he wasn’t Republican, and he spoke well, and said what you wanted to hear, but he’s nasty. Again, do some actual research. Biden just continued Obama’s playbook.) We as Americans are strong enough, ornery enough, and just crazy enough that we can fix this mess. And we can freeze out the whack jobs who populate the far edges of both sides of the political spectrum. Don’t stop, and don’t back down. Our lives depend on that.
Okay. I think I got it all out of my system. I’m off to sign a story contract and write a book. I truly wish everyone a healthy, happy, fulfilling, and maybe even enlightening 2025.
ETA: This post was written before any of the details regarding the Las Vegas incident came out. We now know he was a former Special Forces home on leave and found out his wife wanted a divorce. He decided to go out in a very public manner.
It’s beyond islamic terror, and yes, I realize that islam is supposed to be capitalized. But, I’m not lending them the cachet of a legitimate religion.
It’s a violation of the social contract. The one where we all agree to obey standards of civilization. Tossing your trash into a can instead of on the ground. Putting your shopping cart in the corral instead of leaving it in the parking lot. Coming to the aid of someone being attacked.
The slow erosion of these concepts began with permissiveness and accelerated with the widespread adoption of the “I’m offended” movement.
“Turn on, tune in, drop out” was the phrase. But what were they dropping out of? The social contract. The first generation to drop out of it still had those concepts internalized by their childhood. But, each successive generation strayed a little further from the rigid childhood of the boomer generation. Or, those immigrants who had a completely different social contract growing up.
How do we reverse it? I’m not sure. How do you get a herd of cattle to move in the same direction? If there’s an event that gets the whole herd moving in one direction, fast, that’s a stampede. And that’s not great, either.
It’s going to take a careful cultivation by a dedicated and long-lasting leadership, or a cataclysmic event, far beyond even 9/11, to get the western zeitgeist to move toward the same goals. And that may be wishful thinking when we have governments, like Great Britain’s, that seem to be wholeheartedly set against their own culture.
yes
Reversing the decline is like turning an oil tanker, it only happens a little bit at a time. Like the day I called out the lecturer before me about erasing the chalkboard at the end of his talk, instead of leaving it for me. I told him (that dickhead) it was simple “collegiality.” Or responding to the casual “Happy Holidays” with an emphatic “Merry Christmas.”
I disagree that the Vegas incident was terrorism, or even an attack at all. The man was a Green Beret, ffs. If he actually wanted to hurt people (and stick a thumb in Musk’s eye) he would have rolled up at check-in time in a Model X full of nails, ball bearings, and real explosives, then gone to active-shooter town on everyone in the vicinity and only triggered the car bomb when the cops came charging in to stop him. Livelsberger was a man who wanted to die, and to die LOUD for some reason, but didn’t want to take anyone else with him.
Other than that, 100% agree. The state of affairs started bad and has been growing steadily more appalling for years now and I’m looking forward to a lot of long overdue housecleaning and asskicking.
I take your point, but bear in mind, I wrote this BEFORE that information was available. Now we know he was home on leave and his wife asked for a divorce.
