Immanentize the Eschaton!

This post was brought to my attention through a link elsewhere. Immanentize the eschaton means trying to create heaven on earth. Creating heaven by any means necessary…even if that means sending some of us to hell. It’s a long read, but well worth it. It covers everything I’ve been thinking over the last few weeks. The Left is out to ensure it has complete control of everything. And, I mean everything. Culture, politics, elections (of course), education, movement of people, everything. If you think I’m being paranoid and conspiracy-minded, I challenge you to read this piece at The Smallest Minority.

Think about it. Why on earth would you want the government to be in charge of bringing about heaven on Earth? And, who’s heaven are you trying to create, anyway? The heaven where martyred jihadists get 72 virgins? Who you picking for the role of virgin? Are you Baptist? Do you want their heaven? Do you want Mark Twain’s where he’s rumored to have said “Heaven for the climate, hell for the society?” What exactly are you expecting to happen when you set out to create heaven on earth? And why do you believe that everybody will agree on which version of heaven will be created?

This goes with the whole “it’s for your own good” crap that I despise. Do not attempt to weaken me, humiliate me, shun me, or cage me for my own good. I do not accept your version of heaven on Earth.

The links contained within that post provide support for all of the not-so-paranoid-after-all things that non-Progressive types have been concerned about for the last several years. Things that have come into being in the last several months. Our Manchurian candidate president has no idea what’s being done in his name and I’m not sure he would object if he did understand it all.

This is not good. Wake up. Pay attention. Fight back.

  1. Donald Trump is President.

Biden is merely an appointee of Jinping Xi’s

January six was not an insurrection, it was a rebellion by the deep state, media, big tech, and establishment politicians. It is an unlawful conspiracy to rule Americans as subjects of China.

    It is failing already.

    1. I think it needs to fail faster and more completely. I’m not happy with the current situation. Although, I will admit, that I’d prefer the failure to happen post-move…

      1. I’m in the middle of a bunch of crap. Don’t want it kicking off right away and screwing up my deadlines.

But kinda want it to happen and resolve before I make the decisions for the next steps.

So I don’t have a preference that is realizable.

My current mood is more or less *mad laughter*.

        1. The key is being prepped for that moment when disaster strikes. And mad laughter is either an indication of “I don’t care if I’m ready” or “You won’t like it when I lose my grip.” And, as long as they’re guessing which it is, you’re gonna be fine.

    2. Its not failing. Its just getting started!
your comment implies that like millions of others you don’t like what’s going on and you are vocal about it, but you’ll probably sit on your ass and do nothing about it because you don’t know what exactly to do, or you’re too busy or working or some other really good excuse to be just like Grassley and accuse the bastards of being “intellectually dishonest”. Ouch, That hurt ! Intellectually dishonest (!) my worst nightmare !
Seriously we need to act, not just complain. The leftists are at war with us and it seems like they have the upper hand and they’re relying on us to sit still with our guns closeted, while they have their way with our country, our God, our culture, our values and indoctrinate our children. I want to act in some affirmative way.

      1. Thanks for the link! Also as a person who is pretty literate/fluent in Japanese, it confused me how Sara Hoyt (who was born Portuguese, if I understand), would have familiarized herself with that term (which, while Christian, and I could read it – has never crossed my desk in Japanese (as shameful as that might be)).

Anyway – thank you for the link. Thanks to Ms. Hoyt via Instapundit for bringing me here and thank you for not being a Portuguese person who makes me feel badly about myself.

        1. I’m glad you found the link informative. But I’m not clear why you would not expect a very widely-read (she reads A LOT in a lot of areas) Catholic to not know what the word “immanentize” means.

  2. I want to fight back in an affirmative way but I have no idea how I can make a difference.

    1. How about starting with people you know, who support the idea of creating a “heaven on earth” making all lives bland and boring with no risk, and telling them “NO!”

Speaking up IS acting in an affirmative manner.

  3. And, yes, the big problem with Progressivism is twofold:
    1) Immanentizing the eschaton, and
    2) believing that you can change human nature in order to achieve it.

    1. The second point is exactly the problem: we have sinful natures as a product of original sin. We cannot change that: only God can and we have to work our way through this vale of tears to get to Him.

Most of what the left thinks of as heavenly is sinful in the extreme and so they would have to change the minds of our side by force to achieve their idea of heaven.

And that’s how you get the USSR and the PRC. God help us.

  4. Honestly, what’s going on right now reminds me of the third semester in Persona 5 Royal. Without spoiling too much, the Big Bad figures out a way to actually create heaven on earth…and your mission is literally to take back the world.

If you have never experienced Persona 5 Royal, YOU SHOULD. It’s arguably one of the most conservative video games ever made. Its themes of rebelling against a corrupt society, and doing what’s right even if it puts you on the wrong side of the law, are so topical that I’m sometimes surprised it was even produced.

  5. Scott Alexander suggested that liberalism…*classical liberalism*, not the assembly of weird and evil things that fly under that label in the ‘woke’ world…is basically *a machine for preventing civil war*, that it was “It was forged in the fires of Hell – the horrors of the endless seventeenth century religious wars.”

It seems necessary to abandon the prospect of creating Heaven on Earth to avoid the outcome of creating Hell on Earth. One reason being that, as you suggest, different people have different ideas of Heaven, specifically of earthly Heaven.
